Team Members

Mark Clewlow & Chrissie Rowan

Mark was first coaxed reluctantly into Rock 'n' Roll in 2002. After a few trips to the gym, he found that it could be really good fun and joined the team. He has enjoyed lots of success over the past 7 years, primarily with Laura Cope, and still remains a strong member of the team.

Chrissie has been a member of the team for 2 years. She joined shortly after starting Rock 'n' Roll and has quickly become a very strong member of the team. She previously danced with Adrian in countless UK competitions and team demos.

Barny Golder & Jenny Murdoch

Having had a couple of reasonably successful years dancing with Katie, which included a world ranking, Barny now dances with Jenny. Having danced together for two years they are now preparing to dance internationally.

Before coming to uni, Jenny had been both a gymnast and a dancer, and was looking for an activity to combine the two, so when she saw a demonstration of RnR at her college, she tried it out and got hooked! That was two years ago and she is still a very proud member of the team.

Rob Humphrey & Natasha Dumigan (Vice-Captain)

Despite having to be encouraged to take part in his very first beginners lesson, after it Rob was hooked on Rock 'n' Roll and has been ever since. A year later, in 2009, he got the opportunity to join the team and continue his love of Rock 'n' Roll.

Natasha is a 3rd year bio-natsci at Jesus. She competed at all of the major competitions last year and played an important role in the team's May Week demos.

James Hyde & Sarah Woods

James joined the team in 2007. He performed in several routines in May Week 2008 and continues to be a keen member of the team.

Sarah joined the team in 2007. She performed in several routines in May Week 2008 and continues to be a keen member of the team.

Jack Leigh & Charlotte Verrill

Jack is a 3rd year ASNaC (a what?) from John's. He joined the team last year, after being the only non-team-member ever at improvers' class in the previous year. Charlotte and he snuck to a surprise win in their first competition and plan to continue this trend!

Sam Maddrell & Zara Jealous

People often ask me if I'm too old to be doing Rock 'n' Roll. I say yes, very much so. But someone has to teach the younger generation about injuries. And massive sleazeage. Mmm.

Having been a member of the team for 3 years Zara has performed numerous times at the major UK competitions and in the annual team demos. She was captain in 2007-2008 and continues to be an active member of the team despite the pressures of being a final year medic.

Adrian Potter & Tori Briggs

Adrian joined the team 3 years ago. At one time or another he has been captain and choreographer for the team and has taken part in countless demonstrations and competitions. Adrian's favourite performance was last year when the team performed at the Royal Albert Hall. He loves dancing with his current partner, Tori, and is really excited about the coming year.

Tori just started dancing this year and has loved every minute of it. She is looking forward to competing with her new partner Adrian at this year's national competitions.

Ben Roberts (Captain) & Amy Welmers (Vice-Captain)

Ben first tried Rock 'n' Roll just after Easter 2009 and was immediately hooked. A year later he found himself performing at several May Balls and had somehow gained the title of 'Captain'. This year he hopes to continue to compete and perform, as well as to help break the record for the number of Rock 'n' Rollers you can fit in a 2-man tent, currently set at 7 from a recent team social.

Amy began Rock 'n' Roll last year and quickly became a keen member of the team, taking part in competitions and May Week performances. She hopes to continue dancing and to enjoy this year of R'n'R as much as the last!

Steve 2Rock (Coach) & Laura Cope

Steve became the primary coach of the Rock 'n' Roll team in 2009. He likes to push the team hard but isn't nearly as scary as he might first appear. As well as coaching the team he dances with Laura. After training together for one year, they started competing in European Cup competitions in B-class in autumn 2009, and they hope to continue competing together throughout 2010.

Laura is currently dancing acrobatic rock and roll with Steve 2Rock at B-Class standard. She trains for and competes in international and European competitions, where she hopes to achieve increasing success, and also enjoys performing. As a graduate of mathematics from Cambridge University, she has a variety of other interests including badminton, outdoor activities and travel.

James Young & Olivia Grellier

James is a new member of the team and found himself joining it after looking for something a bit different, he certainly found it!

Olivia is a 5th year vet student and joined the team in 2009 after hearing about Rock 'n' Roll from previous team members. She hopes to perform in competitions and routines in May Week.
