Argentine Tango

The style

Not to be confused with the more formal tango danced in Ballroom, this style represents the more traditional forms right from Buenos Aires. Based heavily on improvisation and musicality, Argentine Tango has a characteristic, intimate look and feel, with lots of body contact in the embrace and a strong focus on leading and following.

Classes

We are not currently running weekly classes in Argentine Tango, though we do run occasional workshops so our members can try the style. If you are looking for something more regular, you could explore some of the other sites we link to:

The information in this section describes the kinds of classes we sometimes offer for Argentine Tango dancers. For more general details or the specifics for the current season, please see:

For beginners

This is suitable for people who have no prior experience with dancing, and is a gentle introduction to the style and some basic movements.

For improvers

This is suitable for people who are already familiar with some of the basic elements of Argentine tango (e.g., the basic step, ochos, simple turns), and is ideal for the participants of last term’s beginners classes.
