The organising committee

The CDC is a large club, but it's still run by members for members. The club's activities are organised by an unpaid, volunteer committee of around 20-30 people, who help with things like:

  • classes (taking money on the door, liaising with teachers, answering questions about the club from interested people)
  • publicity (distributing flyers at colleges, manning the stall at the Societies Fair)
  • events (particularly all the little things that need doing on the day)
  • and of course making decisions about the club's plans and what we want to do in future.

Being a university-based club, unfortunately we lose a few people from committee each year, so we're always on the look out for more people keen to help running things. It doesn't matter whether you're a beginner this term or you've been around for years, if you're interested in sharing your ideas and helping to make things happen, we'd love to hear from you. Oh, and by the way, it's not all work and no play. Committee members get various perks. Most significantly that's class discounts for those working the doors. But previously it has included advance booking of club activities and exclusive social events.

Executive officers

For those who want to get more involved, the committee is led by a team of executive officers, each with responsibility for a particular area of the club's activities. These people are elected annually by the membership at our AGM, and the best way to find out more is to join the committee and see for yourself what everyone does!

At present, the executive officers are:

President Hajna Williams chairs meetings, reports to university, might or might not have a grand plan
Secretary Basia Kraus main assistant to or substitute for president
Treasurer Anthony Drew monitors finances, pays invoices, prepares accounts
Vice President Classes Susan Foord hires teachers & venues, arranges timetable, co-ordinates volunteers
Vice President Events Ania Bobrowska organises larger one-off events, eg balls & tea dances
Publicity Officer Fiammetta Doria leaflet printing & distribution, ? newspaper adverts, ? posters, ? social media
DanceSport Team Captain Natasha Elks +
Isobel Marchant
runs CUDT (competitive ballroom & latin team), appoints any necessary assistants
Rock 'n' Roll Team Captain Sylvie Majorova
+ Rosie Lester
runs CURnR (competitive rock & roll team), appoints any necessary assistants
