The Varsity Dancesport Match
About the match
Each year a Varsity Dancesport Match is held between the Oxford and Cambridge university teams. The host university alternates, with Cambridge hosting in odd-numbered years. The match is held in the third term of the academic year.
Historical results
The Varsity Dancesport match in its present form was first organised by Oxford in 1974. The winners to date have been:
- Oxford
- 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006
- Cambridge
- 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1987, 1991, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2007, 2008
Dancesport Blues status
Dancesport is recognised by the Blues Committees in both Oxford and Cambridge. In Cambridge, the sport has Half Blue status for both men and women (with discretionary Full Blues for women). In Oxford, the sport has Full Blues status for women and discretionary Full Blues for men.
